Bruised

We did some fun activities this weekend. On Friday we went to dinner and a movie with friends, on Saturday we had some friends over for cosmos and games, and on Sunday we played mini golf and had a cookout (and played 2 soccer games). The bruised title refers to my legs and arm after the soccer games - it was a lot of fun, but it has been way too long!!! We also picked up some boxes to start packing this week - which is sad but realistic.

Ladies Night!

Last night Jess, Hina, Erin and I went out for ladies night at our town Piano Bar, Coco Joes. The place is pirate themed, and is actually really cute and fun. Live music is always great (well, at least if the people playing know what they are doing). We had half-off pink drinks (although we do not condone the color of the drink, we are all for the half-off part of the equation).

Us at the beginning of the night (note the cool light-up stems of the glasses that we got to keep)

A little later......

And toward the end of the night when Jess and I were making a Hina dance sandwich (much to her dismay).

Good times in Mount Pleasant

We have been realizing how little time we have left in Mount Pleasant - which is both exciting and sad. As such, we decided to do a few things that we have been meaning to for quite a while.

We had a wonderful Sunday here in town. In the afternoon we went canoeing with Chris and Takako down the mighty Chippewa River (it is really not so mighty, and we did hit bottom a few times, but it was a ton of fun). It was a beautiful sunny day, and although it was a bit warm, it was not humid. There were many people out on the river with us in tubes and other canoes.

After our trip, we did some quick shopping and then had a cookout with Brad, Jess, Chris, T, Aaron and I. We used the fire pit in the yard and did some campfire cooking. The Pless family potato salad was a big hit, next to the Italian sausages and smores.

The Fourth of July 2008

For the 4th of July we hung out with our friends Neil and Micki, and their two cute little boys, Duncan and Nico. We played on the playset, played a couple of kids' board games, played some adult board games, had some great food, and watched lots of fireworks!

Here are the boys on the playset.

Daytona 500 is a bidding game in which you race cars according to cards you have in your hand. It is a lot of fun, and can be played by people of all ages.

Party in Quirkville

Last night we had a get-together at Stuart and Kelley's house. We had some drinks , listened to music, and played some Bohnanza and boxing. Takako is back from Japan, and it is the first time we have seen her in about a year, so it was nice to hang out together.

Stuart and Kelley showed us their most prized wedding presents.

Chris and Aaron prepping the Bohnanza deck - they ended up tying for first in this bean farming game.

Here are Chris and T with some fruity drinks.

Swimming!!

Jess and I went to the "beach" the other day. It was beautiful and sunny, and we waded in the river, read cooking magazines, and watched tubers (not potatoes) go by. Next time we are going to bring the rafts and go over the fun little bumpy sections of the river - it is a great time!

Grand Haven Trip

Earlier in the summer I went with the girls to Grand Haven, a beautiful little beach town on Lake Michigan. We went shopping, had dinner, goofed around (there has got to be some more pictures), went for a walk on the pier, and had some ice cream (because really, how would this trip be complete without ice cream.....or at least a cone in Jess' case?!). Pictures were taken in this cute little restaurant (Hina and Jess in one, Erin and I in the other).
